This website and the app
This page describes the current website and the local-record model of the current Monaura app. Platform-specific permissions and app notices should also be reviewed in the installed app. The website does not access an installed app’s records.
Financial records in the app
The app processes the information you enter, including transactions, accounts, categories, budgets, tags, notes, images, currencies, and preferences. Financial records and settings are stored locally on the device. Monaura does not operate a developer-owned server for your financial ledger.
Exchange-rate updates may send currency codes to a rate provider. They do not need your transaction descriptions, account balances, notes, or attachments. System services and optional permissions depend on the platform and the feature you choose to use.
The website demonstration
The homepage plays predefined, fictional example amounts. It does not record a transaction, connect to a bank, or send those examples to a ledger server. Playback, pause, and replay are handled in your browser.
The current website has no account registration, payment form, advertising script, or third-party behavioral analytics SDK. It does not ask you to enter financial information.
Website preferences and requests
If you choose a light, dark, or system appearance, the website stores that preference in first-party browser local storage under monaura-web-theme. You can remove it by clearing this website’s site data. The language is represented in the page address rather than a tracking cookie.
When you access the production website, Cloudflare provides page hosting and individual cash image downloads through Workers, and delivers downloadable card covers through R2. These requests include technical information such as IP address, request time, requested path, and user-agent information, which the provider may process to deliver content and maintain security. This is separate from financial records in the app. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for the provider’s practices.
Exports and external destinations
You choose where exported records and shared images go. Once information leaves the app, the recipient service’s practices apply. App-store links open an external service with its own privacy practices.
Local app records are not a website backup. Before removing the app or changing devices, export important information to a destination you control. Previously exported files remain in the locations you selected.
Backup & Restore creates a local .monaura file containing structured financial records and relationships, without images, attachments, app preferences or reminders. You choose whether to protect exported files with a password and where to save them. Passwords are not stored for recovery. Restoration replaces current financial records without creating an automatic pre-restore copy. Create your own backup first if you need to keep those records. The website does not accept these files or upload them to Monaura servers.
Android excludes app data from standard system cloud backup and device transfer. Use Backup & Restore to save or move financial records; that file excludes images and app settings.
On Android, background removal processes images on device. Google Play services may download the required model.
Questions and changes
Use the contact channel shown on the support page when available. Avoid sending private financial records in a support request. This page will be updated when the website’s data handling changes; the installed app may present additional platform-specific information.
